What happens if the tenant doesn’t pay rent?
If a tenant fails to pay rent, we follow a structured procedure in compliance with New Zealand tenancy laws. This includes contacting the tenant, issuing notices, and potentially involving the Tenancy Tribunal if the issue is not resolved. We can also offer a rental guarantee which means that you will always receive your rent in full and on time.
What is the bond money used for?
In New Zealand, the bond is held as security against any potential damage or unpaid rent. It ensures the property is maintained in good condition and covers any financial discrepancies when the tenancy ends. The bond is lodged with Tenancy Services.
Can the landlord conduct periodic inspections?
Yes, landlords in New Zealand can conduct periodic inspections but must provide proper notice to the tenant, typically 48 hours, as per the Residential Tenancies Act.
